My work investigates areas of a more metaphysical and intangible nature, but still rooted in the real world. Memories - personal and collective, history, and most importantly things that are elusive, obscured in some way or just outside our sphere of understanding. I have a particular interest in the psychological phenomenon of the ‘uncanny’ and its manifestations in everyday life.

I am interested in the paring down of information, providing only the minimum to trigger associations or recollections. My work requires the imagination of the viewer for completion and therefore meanings or narrative remain ambiguous.

My current practice examines possible problems with the concept of the domestic environment as a space of safety. In order to explore this idea I have used Freud’s formulations on the "unhiemlich" or "unhomely", relating to the familiar made unfamiliar, combined with surrealist sense of humour to create works that draw the viewer in on both an emotive and intellectual level. My intention is to create a sense of disquiet or unease in a familiar environment.
