Through the mediums of painting and photography, I examine various aspects of the man-made and natural environments. My aim is to create thought provoking works reflecting the subconscious connections that we form with our surroundings, the places and spaces we inhabit and pass through on a daily basis, our homes and landscape and the objects situated within.
I explore how the passage of time alters our recollections of places and things, and how the effects of light and darkness can change our perception of the familiar, sometimes resulting in fleeting glimpses of ambiguous forms.
By examining everyday items and removing them from their usual context, I make them appear alien and strange. While considering their purpose and appearance, I also question the part they play in the world as it is today, as well as their status as relics of the future.
