Lost 3

Created: June 2012

Themes of uncertainty, identity, re-use and craftsmanship are central to my work. I work to create unexpected and poetic experiences.

These prints form part of a series of four entitled ‘Lost I – IV.’ They are black and white large scale linocuts looking at themes of loss: feeling lost, getting lost, and discovering something unexpected.

I initially created a human scale installation from old Metro newspapers of a hanging forest. The prints depict experiences a viewer would have seen as they passed though the paper forest along with feelings of entrapment, delight and escape.

Linocut is my preferred print process as I enjoy the direct relationship between the maker and the printing block. I find cutting the block a meditative experience and the luminosity of the inks add drama to my work.
